Hi Mila,
-You are very fortunate to have experienced the interaction with the resident that you did. I've been asking my therapist for psych testing for over a year now, and she seems to think I don't trust her knowledge in her field. She has a daughter with dysthmia (as she's diagnosed me with), and feels she knows everything there is to know, no psych tests are necessary.
-I have had my thryoid checked, and all blood work drawn, seems I am in excellent health, all blood work came back normal, except for allergy levels which have run high for many years.
-Also noticing (while not on meds, and on Celexa) that I may be experiencing problems around PMS times. I have had a few situations happen about a week before I started my cycle, and a nurse at my therapists office believes I should start taking this seriously.
-I am really hoping that AD's do not become my best friend for life, I really thought they were supposed to be a short term fix, or a combination to use while undergoing therapy, and that eventually through therapy and AD, the depression would go away.Take care.
Lots of sunshine to you!
> Prozac (for a generic patient with garden variety depression). apparently, many doctors feel that way, and many patients like it (statistics show that, if i am not mistaken) But then we know that such a person doesn't exist...

She quickly wrote the prescription, and then gently asked whether there was anything else I wanted. I burst down in tears, and some strange unknown to me voice told her that I didn't want to live anymore. She spent 2 hours with me doing clinical interview by the book ( i assume she was a good student in med school), and then made me undergo a battery of tests, which spotted many physical problems in my body that were undetected by the physical I underwent 2 weeks prior to that.

> The best advice for the Newbies from me: beware how special, how unique you and your life situation are. Know that AD might become your best friend for life. Choose well. Try different kinds. As you will change: physically, psychologically, and social-wise, your medication might be in need of being changed accordingly. do not settle for anything short of the extraordinary for yourself.
