It's not uncommon for depression and anxiety to be comorbid to ADD. In such cases (myself included) the depression can not be fully treated until the ADD has been treated.

While it's getting a bit dated, _Driven to Distraction_ By Drs. Howell and Rately (maybe spelled wrong) is still considered the ADD bible by many. Also check out www.addult.com and Dr. Amen's www.brainplace.com for more info.

By no means are ADD and depression/anxiety mutaly exculsive. One of the important factors in making a diagnosis is that ADD traits need to have existed over time, back into childhood. While this is not always the case, it is one of the most important considerations in making the diagnosis.

If you think that ADD might be part of what you are dealing with, you might want to consult an ADD specialist. I've found that some pdocs are not as well versed on the treatment of ADD in adults as they could be.

Good luck with it

> i recently discovered the disorder ADHD and found that a lot of the traits associated with it apllied to my personality. i suffer horribly from depression and anxiety which may be the main cause for possible ADHD related thinking and behavior. I guess i would have to write a book in order to try to diagnose this here. so i just want to say that i know
