Richelson: Naltrexone, Tiagabine, Ziprasidone

Posted by SLS on April 15, 2001, at 20:08:15

Dear Dr. Richelson,

In re: Treatment-resistant major depression and bipolar depression.

1. What place does naltrexone (Revia) have in treating depression?

2. Has tiagabine (Gabitril) shown any potential as a mood stabilizer?

3. What is your impression of the utility of ziprasidone (Geodon) as an adjunct to antidepressants in the treatment of depression without psychotic features or comorbitity? Can it fill this same role as do Zyprexa and Risperdal?

Thank you.

- Scott
