Pandora - Wellbutrin may be a good alternative to augment Effexor XR. Although, Effexor XR at 225mg can be increased to 300mg or higher with increasing efficacy. Ask your doctor which strategy would be best for your individual case. This is a case of 6 of one or half a dozen of the other. I have seen doses of 450mg of Effexor XR and have heard of people going as high as 600mg daily with increasing efficacy.
Sometimes a decrease in dose of Effexor XR can increase efficacy. I have seen a decrease in dose work in a couple of instances, but not always (I have seen a decrease in dose require an increase again. You should be able to tell if a decrease works within 2 to 3 weeks). This is an strategy that should be followed closely by your doc. Talk about all 3 of these choices with your doc. He/she will know what should be the best trial for you.
I hope this is of some help - Cam.
