Yes, Depakote can cause agitation. For me, all the mood stabilizers except for gabapentin caused agitation.

Risperdal is nice for combatting the agitation, but the restless legs syndrome, weight gain, or a number of different side-effects might render it ineffective. But then there is always Zyprexa, Seroquel, or the new Geodon. I took Zyprexa for four months to combat agitation on Wellbutrin, and I never had the weight gain or sedation side-effects.
