Risperdal is better than you might think. Risperdal doesn't just help with the intrusive thoughts, it also helps combat mania--as does Zyprexa, Seroquel, and Geodon. So trust your doctor with this one.
I think Buproprion and Effexor are supposed to be the best antidepressants for _not_ causing mania. See the Tips.
Trust your doctor's judgement in all of this, though.
