Lorraine,
It interesting that you have tightnesss in the chest combined with anxiety. Did you say 5-htp helped that? Does anyone else out there have this symptom combo?
I’m reaching here but this could indicate a serotonin abnormality. Look at this site and see if it gives you any perspective: http://members.nbci.com/Neil_S_Clark/Serotonin.html
The French AD tianeptine (available from overseas) can improve mood, lessen anxiety, and dramatically relieve asthma (does this mean it would also relieve chest tightness?). It has several effects including INCREASING the uptake of serotonin. Just the opposite of an SSRI. Note, however, in about 20% of the people who take it, it increases insomnia and nightmares. One person reported waking up with anxiety and tightness in the chest. Isn’t it strange how so many med.s will do exactly the opposite of what they are supposed to do in a subset population?
BTW: Glad that reducing the selegiline to 5mg. seems to help. you may get the same beneficial effects with 2.5mg/day if you want to see if it further helps with anxiety.
Also, don't think too much of what a little Mirapex did on the first day. Low doses can act very differently than high doses and, also, the effect could be transitory.
