Dear Dr. Bob,
I was wondering what you think about Dr. David Burns' book FEELING GOOD. I am asking because although he is a psychiatrist, he has a conflict with the idea that drug companies are funding the research on antidepressant medications. In his book he acknowledges that people with long-standing and chronic depressions need the medication, but he also puts forward 10 cognitive distortions that form the basis of depression, and there are exercises one can do to help oneself.I like Dr. Burns and what he says, but I realize everyone has their own feelings about this kind of thing. Any comments?
Sincerely,
Diane J.
P. S. You are a good moderator for this forum--you have a really clear head and a professional demeanor.
