Has anyone with fairly severe social phobia (speaking in front of large groups, one-on-one meetings with senior boss, etc)had significant remission of symptoms by sustituting something like strenuous daily jogging.
Hi jb.
In answer to yr question, no. I do 40mins a day on the bike + 15mins on the bag. There is a slight, if discernable lift in my mood & a pleasantly 'healthy'/euphoric feeling. I also feel a little calmer because of my exercise & I guess you could interpret that as analogous to a slight reduction in anxiety. When I was bang on the weights a year or two ago I got pretty big. I undoubtedly felt a little more 'sure' of myself, a little more confident (tho' confidence is not a problem), but the core symptoms (inner panic, palpitations etc) persisted.
Whatever, exercise undoubtedly promotes good sleep, besides the obvious benefits.
