When you start effexor you may have some physical symptoms similar to anxiety and this is the drug not anxiety, how my pharmascist explained it. In my opinion it works really well but you need to give it time to really notice. For me this was about five months and with gradual increases until I was upto 150mg.

PS when I started I had insomnia for the first while, now my sleep is back to normal
