I had a pretty horrible doctor at first, I can relate. I have a new one now... and he seems to know his s**t.
Just a piece of info he told me:
at 37.5 mg. effexor xr effects serotonin
at 75 it effects serotonin and norepinephrine.
at 150.. effects ser/nore/and dopamine(?)

Anyway... that's how it was explained to me.. so that may be a good way for you to go.
