shouldn't he have started me out on a higher dose seeing as i've been on ad before for a long time....any replys are welcome
james here......No, never. Always start at the lowest dose or you are likely to have side effects so bad you are likely to stop the med. This is even more true for Effexor. Also if you stopped one AD and started another the old AD remains for a while in your body (washout period). It can be as much as a month or more, depending on the AD. Another factor is that all the AD's potentiate each other,
so if you just stopped one and stared the other at a high dose you could end up with a very high level of each in yor body, causing side effects from hell.James/Pat
