My wife has fallen in love with a combination of Lamictal and Topamax (Topamax by itself had very little success). She says it has really made a difference leveling her moods out and keeping them from running through the major ups and downs.
Good luck!

> I got my first major depression after my first child was born, in the form of a severe 5-month postpartum depression, for which I went on Zoloft. The Zoloft apparently triggered my first manias, manifested in dangerously impulsive shopping binges especially (e.g. a $1200 watch). My chemistry changed again with my second child and I had to add Wellbutrin. Now I have been diagnosed as having Bipolar II/rapid cycling and have been on Depakote unsuccessfully first, now Topamax with limited success as well. I still spend 10 days a month (in the region of my period) non-functioning: sobbing and agitated, racing through a wide range of emotions, all intense. Does anyone have any thoughts on medications meds that might work better for what appears hormonally-induced? I'm at the top of the dosage on everything I'm currently taking. Thanks.
