Hi Cam,
I am confused about your thread to McGuyver. I am one who used Effexor and was on it for 8 months with absolutely no side effects. It was incredibly helpful for my situations. My situations are now over and I was ready to stiop taking the drug. My doctor said to wean off. I though that was becasue he didn't want me to get depressed again. i followed his instructions for the weaning process and two days after I decreased the dosage I started having dizzy spells. I think of all physical feelings/symptoms ddizy would be my last choice to deal with. I called my doctor and told him about them and he said oh.....yes dizziness is a withdrawal symptom, but should be very mild. i said okay and continued my weaning porcess, dealing with the dizzy spells and being positive that they would end soon. I then reached the point it was time to stop completely as I had weaned as far as I could and the next day WAMMO!
I could not walk or even sit up without falling over from the spells, I was so nauseous that I couldn;t eat and my joints started aching so bad I could harldy move, when I slept every time i moved mi woke up due to the severe pain.
I told my docotr and he said oh yes... it is a terrible drug for withdrawal effects, but will end soon. As you may have read in my other threads, it has been 6 days and no relief, in fact the pian has increased tremedoulsy aong with the dizzy spells. I have literally been on my back couch or bed for 4 days now. Every time I get up it takes a minute to stablize but it only last about a minute before the dizziness starts in again. It happens about every minute to minute and a hlf they are continuous.
You are right I haven't heard the people that are speaking ill of withdrawl how they felt when they were on it. As I said I felt great, BUT, had I known I was going to be feeling this bad going off..... I definitely would not have taken it. I am quite naive to drugs and haven't taken many in my day. I laso had never been remotely depressed, mine was purely circumstantial and passed quite quickly, so bare with me if I sound confused about your saying we need balance on this thread. And I am also confused about your comment of fecal matter through the air waves. Are you talking about people or information? Thanks for your time and I do apreciate the info I have received on this but think it's probably not for me. Lots of judgment. I went there too in response to someone comments, so it's best to go before the unhealthy atmosphere rubs off more.
Good Luck,
Pamela
