Does anyone think it would be worth it to open the capsule and dump some of the powder out and try again?
Shelli,
My pDoc actually suggested that I start Geodon by cutting the capsules and shaking some out. It doesn't make for an exact dose and these particular capsules are a pain. At least it doesn't taste bad. I started it that way due to my previous extreme sensitivity to meds such as Zyprexa.
Currently I am working with a trial of 20mg bid, as I've been able to tolerate it reasonably well. We shall see. The verdict isn't in. One way to start with a significantly lower dose is to take it without food. To quote the prescribing info: "Adsorption of ziprasidone is increased up to two-fold in the presence of food." I find myself arranging doses around my schedule - like taking it after I have to drive. Irregular dosing isn't optimal, but neither are accidents.Blessings,
Chris A.
