Sleep and midazolam

I have always had a hard time sleeping and the docs will need give me sleeping pills to the extent that I think I need them. So I have taken to buying over internet. I ordered midazolam and I am familiar with it being used as preanesthesia in US. Is it used just for sleep in Europe. Is it dangerous to take just for sleep??? Thanks
