> I have been taking Effexor XR for about 5 months and am experiencing severe muscle and skeletal pain. My psychiatrist says my arthritis (which is in the early stages) is just getting worse. However on my own I reduced my intake of Effexor XR by 37.5 and the pain has lessened. Is anyone else out there experiencing this side effect? HELP!

Yes, I had the same while on SSRIs. For whatever reason most CNS agents, which most people take for years, are only tested for 6 weeks by the FDA. Any sideffects that aren't reported by then (it takes a while for the myalgias to get started) seem to be frequently overlooked by those who read the packaging inserts between writing scrips and going to industry-supported seminars. Imagine the outcry if the FDA would only test pacemakers for 6 weeks, and suggest that anything beyond that is gravy!
