Losing Paxil Weight

Posted by FrancineD on March 15, 2001, at 10:25:06

I've read countless testimonials about people gaining weight on just about every anti-depressant out there, but one thing never seems to get answered. I'd appreciate it if SOMEONE could tell me whether they've successfully lost the extra weight after discontinuing the offending drug (in my case, Paxil). I gained 35 lbs in under six months on Paxil and discontinued use in December. I'm hesitating to go back on an anti-depressant again until I can be sure in knowing that this weight will indeed come off. I've lost about 5 lbs in two months, but it certainly hasn't been easy. I feel as though my metabolism has been permanently altered. Any thoughts? Personal stories? I really don't want to start another medication until I get this answered. Thanks for taking a moment to email me with your story.
