I know I'm sounding like a broken record but I need some more help regarding my med situation. You all have been so helpful and that's why I keep asking as I am so darned tired of this situation.
A brief recap - I am being treated for depression, anxiety, and ADD and am currently taking 30mg Adderall, 15 Remeron, and 30mg Prozac. While the Prozac has been helpful in many ways, I can't seem to find the right dose as I feel like 30mg is not enough and 35 is too high (being on edge, emotions totally blunted, heart racing). I have also tried taking 2.4mg in liquid form in addition to the regular 30mg to no avail.
My psychiatrist has suggested adding 25mg Wellbutrin SR to the mix. But I am leary of that suggestion for these reasons:
Cam - Your posts seems to indicate it wouldn't be effective at such a low dose. I would be concerned about taking more because of already being on adderall and having anxiety as a secondary condition.
My thoughts after searching posts on this board:
1. Increase the adderall dose in the am from 10mg to 12mg. My reasoning is yesterday, when I took 32.4 mg Prozac and 10mg Adderall, I did fine but fizzled out about an hour before my mid time Adderall dose. Maybe the 12mg would jump start the Prozac better in the morning. Also, yesterday, when I had another cup of coffee, I felt much better.
2. Ritalin - Maybe another stimulant would work better with the Prozac.
3. Buspar - Instead of increasing the stimulants, add Buspar because it would take the edge off of Prozac. Also, it has good PMS Properties and I suffer through that. Has been shown to be effective as augmentation in some cases.
4. Lithium - Don't have as many good reasons for it but still wonder whether it would be a good option.
In the past, I have gotten slightly manic on antidepressants which makes me think about Lithium. Also, it's been shown to be effective. Finally, I am getting to the point where I feel confident to ask my psychiatrist if I could sample these various options. If I were to go that route, it seems like I should try the stimulants first and then the Buspar. Am I thinking logically?
Sorry to burden you all with such a long post. Due to having LD and ADD, I get overwhelmed easily with all this information. It also doesn't help me in communicating with my psychiatrist even though I always think I am prepared with questions.
Thanks in advance for your help.
