Janie - Thanks for an alternative to the Prozac model. I am going to print this and perhaps see if I can get a doc or two to try it. It makes perfect sense and I am glad it worked for you.
How did you come across this? It is simple, yet brilliant. Thank you so much for your input - Cam
> I am now in the process of weaning off Effexor XR which I have been taking for 9 months at 37.5 mg/day. After a week of withdrawal, I am having virtually NO side effects. May I suggest the following taper schedule. Begin by taking your normal dose every 36 hours, rather than every 24 hours. After a week, move to every 48 hours, and continue to taper at 12 hour intervals. For those on higher dosages, attempt to lower your DOSAGE first at 24 hour intervals, until 37.5 mg/day is your baseline. Then begin the 12-hour interval taper over however long it takes to completely withdraw. Some may find it necessary to even drop to the 25mg dose of regular Effexor, which can then be lowered to 12.5 mg/day. I was one of the individuals who suffered from sleepiness and lethargy. I can already tell a major difference in my mental alertness and activity level. Hey guys, I now get up in the mornings before noon...a significant improvement in my day!!
