Lisa - The diarrhea is common when starting Sodium Valproate and should resolve within a week. The Xanax probably kept you sleeping through it. The trembling is probably also due to the Valproate, as well and will reslove in the same time period. I know it sounds counter-productive, but try taking the Valproate with a meal. It may help. Imodium may be worth a try, but ask your doc first. I don't think that there are any general contraindications to taking Valproate and Imodium together, but it is best to ask the doc, just so he/she knows what you are taking (keeps everyone on the same page). Be sure to take the Imodium with a full glass of water, so that you will get it's full effect.

Hope this helps - Cam

> My doctor started me on Clomipramine yesterday, and last night I had a 50mg tablet of this, plus a 300mg tablet of Sodium Valproate plus two tablets of Xanax. In the night I had such a bad case of diarrhoea that it just poured out of me into the bed whilst I was asleep (sorry, anyone who's eating!) Does anyone know if there is anything in the combination of drugs above that might have caused this? Also I woke up in the night trembling.
