> I read an old post about sexual dysfunction caused by reboxetine and possibly adrafinil. You said that it's the alpha 1-adrenergic agonism of these drugs that causes the problem. Can you elaborate on how alpha 1-adrenergic agonism causes the problem? And what problems does it cause, loss of libido, loss of sensation/ orgasm potential, or both? Thanks.

I don't know if rebox. effects sexual functin in women. In men it is very common side effect. It causes diminished erections and retrograde ejaculations. No loss of libido, orgasm ability or loss of feeling. The alpha one agonism tightens the muscles around the uretha causing urinary hesitancy and poor ejaculation. Muscle tightening in other areas of the groin may explain the erectile dysfunction.

Note: reboxetine, despite the studies, has a very high incidence of side effects, rarely if ever does it improve mood or social phobia and as an arousal agent tends to poop out after a # of months.

Adrafinil, though it has ben claimed to be an alpha1 agonist, this is in no way a certainty. Even if it is, it may be only a centrally acting alpha1 agonist rather than inducing general agonism.
