SSRIs and emotion

Posted by martin on February 8, 2001, at 10:11:05

does anyone know the mechanism responsible for SSRIs (sertraline in my case) thymoanaesthetic effects? and how to attenuate them?

read lots about the potential of dopaminergic drugs to counteract this effect, but contrary to the US indirect sympathomimetics like methylphenidate or dextroamphetamine are not prescribed by european physicians very often.

so what remains are dopamine-receptor-agonists like the ergot-derivates bromergocrytine and lisuride, but these drugs always cause (severe)nausea etc.

any recommendations?
thanks
