Hi there, cutie. It is common practice to use Desyrel (trazodone) as a sleep aid when combined with an MAO inhibitor. Of course, there might also be the added benefit of producing a more robust antidepressant effect. I assume from your use of such a low dosage of Desyrel that it is for sleep.
Joffe and his colleagues have advocated using moclobemide in combination with SSRIs in treatment resistant cases. I don't doubt that they have been successful and without serious side effects; the one most significantly dangerous being serotonin syndrome. However, there have been quite a few reports of serotonin syndrome developing with such combinations. Since Desyrel does inhibit the reuptake of serotonin to a significant degree, using it in combination with any MAOI should be monitored for the development of serotonin syndrome. In clinical practice, such an event with desyrel is probably rare.
I would say that combining moclobemide with Desyrel would be very safe.
