The hot flashes are so hot it feels like im taking a bubble bath in NAPALM.Not very happy that my Dr said there arent many side effects to effexor and its very safe.If you call driving down the road in a total fog and im pretty sure there was some hallucinations.I have a 30 min drive and can hardly remember it.I cant take this stuff and be productive at work.GOD I hate this stuff.Hope everyone else has better luck.I may try just using St,Johns Wort and see what happens.Anyone ever try SJW ?

Chris,
Some people and some doctors would disagree with your choice to quit so early. But not me. I'm with you all the way. If it sucks in the first week, there's definitely a better choice that won't. The fact that it stinks so much so early is, to me, a clue that the particular drug molecule is just not a good match for your chemistry. Others will disagree and say give it time.

If you try SJW, keep in mind that even though it clinically is equivalent to prescriptions, it generally takes longer to work. And of course, it may work for someone but not for someone else. No guarantees.

For your best odds though, stick with a brand that has a known high hyperforin content. That includes Kira, Movana, or Nature's Way Perika. Also keep in mind that the normal dose of 3 tabs per day could be too little, since the most effective clinical trials used doses up to 9 tabs per day. One SJW pill is roughly the same as 10mg of a tricyclic antidepressant. With 50mg to 75mg of a tricyclic being the minimum dose, that implies 3 tabs of SJW is not enough.

It would be wise to see your doctor first though. For accurate records he needs to know your bad reaction to Effexor and your early discontinuation. He may have another route to take that will work out better.
John
