In reply to Wellbutrin Side Effect?, posted by G. O'Neal on July 11, 1998, at 9:22:45
I have not experienced hair loss. I do not experience the bad side effects with Wellbutrin that I have with other antidepressants. Wellbutrin makes me feel brighter and more alert. I first began with an older antidepressant, Desirel(?) (I can't remember the name) and it put me in a stupor. I then took Wellbutrin for about 5 years. Wellbutrin made me feel more alert and less lethargic. Even though Wellbutrin caused me no side effects, I decided to try something different. I tried Effexor and Celexa. With Effexor, I experienced extreme nausea and dizziness. I would become so dizzy, that I felt like I had just come off a whirling carnival ride. At one point, I became so ill, I would vomit and could not hardly stand up because of the dizziness. Celexa was not as severe, but I still experienced the dizziness and nausea. I should have stayed with Wellbutrin and I have since gone back to Wellbutrin and the nausea and dizziness have subsided. I believe that we are all different and each antidepressant affects us differently. You have to experiment and try until you find the right one for you. So far I have had the best luck with Wellbutrin. Also consider why you are taking it. My depression is physical, not psychological. I have been diagnosed to have chronic depression and I take antidepressants to regulate my Seratonin level. Without antidepressants, I am extremely lethargic and what I call nonfuntionally tired. I also noticed that when I stopped taking Wellbutrin, I started smoking more cigarettes. Antidepressants are like any other product. You have to shop for the one that works best for you
