> I had not taken any antidepressants for 2 years before I tried reboxetine for about a week, and then right after that I went on the amisulpride. My theory was try something completely different each time, first it was prozac(seritonin), then reboxetine(noradrenaline), then amisulpride(dopamine), third times a charm.

> The way amisulpride worked was like this, the first few days there was periods of improved mood, then it slowly faded away, and I suck back down into depression a little bit, then at about week 2 I believe my mood started to slowly improve again, this slow steady improvment has continued since then and I think it is now starting to level off at the 5-6 week mark, I think I might still see some slight improvement with more time but it will probebly be very slight if any, so that might give you something to go by if you decide to try amisulpride, as for the adrafinil, it seems to be taking the same path as the amisulpride did, I could feel the adrafinil the first few days and now it has faded away a bit, I will have to wait and see on that but I am hopefull it will again show its positive effects with time. I am not sure if you are a man or woman but I have read women have side effects with amisulpride, but if your a man you will not have any problems at all. One thing that I still get is anxiety, I still occasionaly have periods of extreme anxiety to the point were I feel sick to my stomach. I am not trying to say these drugs cause anxiety, I am only trying to say these drugs dont help ease anxiety, at least not my anxiety, but still, they do a good job elevating my mood to the point where I am no longer depressed. You have to order these drugs from europe and your insurance is not going to cover them so you will be paying more money than normal for medication, you will be the doctor and patient, prescribing yourself drugs not approved by the FDA, not to say there is anything wrong with that, its just not a ordinary thing, but do you remember the story about the man who took the road less traveled, I dont, but I remember that taking that road was a good thing, maybe you can refresh my memory about that story. Regarding your current medications I dont know if you should stop them completely before going on ami/adr or not, but my gut feeling on it is you should completely stop all other drugs before starting ami/adr. You may have to wean off the effexor slowly(again I am just guessing)to avoid bad effects, the only reason why I say take take ami/adr alone is because when I first started taking amisulpride I had the bright idea of taking 0.5mg reboxetine with it, just for a small stimulant effect, even at that small dosage the reboxetine totally wiped out all good effects I was having with amisulpride, then a couple days after the rebox was out of my system I started to improve again, so there is just no telling how effexor will combine with amisulpride so again, I think if at all possible, it would be best to take ami/adr alone. That is all I can think of to tell you right now. I hope this is helpful to you.

Dennis,

Thank you for the time and attention you gave to my question. Although I know that everyone's experience with a drug is different, it does help to hear personal accounts. (Un-shared depression can be lonely.)

You mentioned possible side effects for women - I am one -so I'll continue reading up on amisulpride.

I too have anxiety disorder. Have you tried valerian? Or kava-kava? They are herbs. For me valerian helps take the edge off low-level anxiety. Although it is powerless against a full-blown anxiety attack.

I hope you'll keep us posted on how the amisulpride/adrafinil combo is working for you.
