General question about Effexor

Posted by Greg on January 9, 2001, at 17:19:03

Been meaning to ask this question for awhile...

Is there a particular reason why Effexor seems to be the most commonly prescribed anti-depressant among doctors?

In the year or so that I've been at Babble it seems like most of the time when a new person asks about their new med, it's Effexor. Also seems like the majority of the posts are about it as well. Does it have a higher success rate than the rest? If so, it appears to me that it also has a very high amount of side-effects too. When I was first dianosed, Effexor was the first med rx'd to me. I had very severe memory loss with it and had to change. I was also mis-diagnosed, but that's another story...

I'm just curious...
