What have ADs done to my brain??

Posted by PhoenixGirl on January 2, 2001, at 11:58:56

I am really confused. I am 22, and I started ADs at 13, been taking them ever since. The first one I took was imipramine, and didn't have much sexual side effect problem with it for 3+ years. Then I was tried on many others, like clomipramine, serzone, effexor, luvox, wellbutrin, celexa, remeron, and now desipramine (pretty much in that order). I'm now on Wellbutrin and desipramine. A few months after starting clomipramine, I started having the side effects. For that reason, and especially because ADs work only partially for me, I tried the others, to no avail. Desipramine is similar to imipramine, and I've been on it for about a month. That side effect is less with desipramine, but I'm not even close to how I was years ago on imipramine. This makes no sense to me. Could those other ADs have messed up my brain, and left me more susceptible to that side effect? What's going on??
By the way, when I changed from celexa to remeron, and then remeron to desipramine, I experienced a brief decrease in that side effect. Once on remeron and later desipramine for a few weeks, the side effect returned almost as bad as before. I don't understand.
