Hi,
I just completed about a month on Provigil which
has been a God sent to me. I have found it helps
tremendously with fatigue, foggy brain and my quality
of life in general. I still take a very low dose
of prozac (20 mg). Not to all into a long story here
because I've talked about it before, my body has
a problem tolerating other meds by making me gain
weight and bloating.I continue to take the antidepressant because I found
myself a little depressed after the other symptoms
went away.I also lost weight and do not crave any food which
I think was mainly to combat the extreme fatigue
I was experiencing. I also have the epstein barr
virus in the past which has played a part.As a female, I have found an increase in menstruation.
I am not sure if this is from the meds, or if it is
coincidential that I started taking Soy products at
the time which they claim increases estrogen.
I am possibly thinking this could also be a cleansing
reaction, that it's coming out of my body in this way.I contribute the weight loss from the other toxins
help in my tissue from the other drugs which caused
a weight gain. All in all I am quite please.
I had gone ahead and ordered online adrafinil because
I didn't think the insurance company would approve
the modrafinil/provigil.I don't want to mess up a good thing, on the other
hand, adrafinil may work better and I will never know
until I give it a try.I have read it causes elevation in liver enzymes which
I already have, but am trying to clear all that anyway
by taking JohnL's suggestion. Right now I am using
Milk Thistle and Echincea & Golden Seal. John mentioned SamE, but I'm not using that until I see how
these other things work.I feel normal, and am excited about my improved quality
of life.I am writing this in hopes to help someone else who
experienced weight gain and also may have fatigue
problems. In my case, since modrafinil/provigil is not on the approved list for my insurance company, the doctor had to call to get it improved.
For those of us with children that tried stimulants
for ADHD or ADD with bad results, I am wondering if
this Provigil is worth a try.The problem with my son not taking his meds is the
anxiety experience. He is 12 years old.Everything I have just stated above, of course is opinion only.
Best to All,
Sassy
