I started taking effexor xr about 3 months ago and am now at the dose of 150mg daily. I'm feeling great relief from the depression. My family has noticed how much calmer I am and not on edge all the time, yelling at the kids. I wish I would have gotten help many years before this. Side effects, yes I have them but I will tolerate them since I feel so good. The dry mouth, occ.headaches, night sweating and tiredness. Try to exercise, it does help. I'm not to the level I was at before taking the medication but slowly working up to it. I do lie on the couch more than I ever had before but I'm relaxed. I started having hot flashes recently, is this normal? I'm only in my late 30's so I didn't think it was time for menapause. Another thing is I do tend to more irritable around my period so next month I will increse the dose by 37.5 mg only for one week a few days prior to the start of my period then go back to 150mg. My Dr. thinks this might work. Another thing is I work nights 2-3 times a week. I have a hard time taking the medication the same time every day. If I take it when I get home in the morning I only get a few hours of sleep then I'm wide awake. If I wait until I wake up then sometimes I have the headache real bad. Any suggestions?
