depression and Paroxetine

Does anybody know anything about Paroxetine and how effective it may be for treating clinical depression. How long does it take to kick in? Is it right for most patients? If a patient has taken a different drug in the past is it better to continue with the old drug? What actual effects does it have on brain chemistry? Please help.
