Is your doctor a psychiatrist?? I hope not!!
You should never stop an AD cold turkey.

I am glad that you managed through it though. Don't ever let another doctor tell you that!

Good luck.

JOelle

topped me cold turkey . I seemed to have every thing wrong with me. I had know idea that it was the side effects of effexor. I just thought it was a reaction to other medication I was taking . Went to hospital E.R. thinking it was a allergic reaction and was treated as so. Then the symptoms got worse, my heart rate kept jumping up & down. I was scared !!!! I still don't know all the side effects and withdrawal signs. But called my Dr. and told him I thought it was from stopping COLD TURKEY. He then put me back on it in order to taper me off . Just the one dose already has helped.
