> Any Advice????????You didn't say what dosage you are taking, but I am assuming your doctor will start you out on a fairly low amount and then increase it, which will minimize side effects. He/She will also check your blood pressure every time you visit.
For what it is worth (and it is different for everyone), I am taking 300 mg Effexor daily and my blood pressure at my last visit was 100/68, which was actually a little lower than the previous month. Effexor doesn't seem to increase blood pressure in everyone, but I have read recently that the average increase in blood pressure for those it does affect is eight points. Unfortunately, the article didn't specify if that was eight points total or eight points systolic and eight points diastolic.
If this is a concern for you, you can always track your blood pressure on your own, either through the drugstore machines (better than nothing) or buy a home blood pressure machine (no, I can't spell it!).
