Wellbutrin auditory event

Posted by JennyR on October 31, 2000, at 19:37:02

On day 2 of taking Wellbutrin 150 mg in addition to Serzone 400 (cut down from 600 when the Wellbutrin was added) I had a bizarre and frightening experience. I was talking to my husband and kids and was hearing tones like when someone is dialing a touch-tone phone, or maybe playing a video game. I asked what that was, but no one else was hearing it. Then I realized it was only when I talked, and it was in my head, and it was in rhythm with my speech. If I talked faster they sped up. If I only said two words, I heard two tones. It was scary. I called my pdoc and he said it may be the effect of the Serzone and Wellbutrin interacting and told me to reduce the Serzone to 200 mg.
Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? I should note that part of why he cut down the Serzone and added the Wellbutrin was I was seeing "visual trails" on the 600 of Serzone. I wonder if some people are prone to these distortions of their senses? This is really scary.
