> A few months ago I was diagnosed with ADD so my psychiatrist tried some of the common treatments (Ritalin, Adderal, and that stuff people take to quit smoking), none of which helped. She said that sometimes Effexor can help with ADD (and mild depression) and she put me on 37.5 mg SR. That didn't work out at all; anxiety and sleepless nights. A month and a half ago we decided to try a different tact. I started taking the regular type of Effexor at a miniscule dose (12.5 mg). Over the course of the last month-and-a-half I've stedily increased my dosage and am now up to 100 mg.

But I remembered reading someplace that Effexor can cause hypertension and with that in mind I had my blood pressure checked in one of those electronic boothes you find in pharmacies and grocery stores. My blood pressure has always been extremely low, partly due to a high level of athletic activity and heredity, so I was surprised...no, shocked when I found that my blood pressure was high (147/87). I'll tell my doctor next time I see her, I'm a little wracked about it.

I was interested to read your post. I have been taking Effexor for about three months. I can relate to what you are saying. What exactly is hypertension? What did your doc say?
Hope all's going well for you.
