GABAPENTIN whats the ups and downs ???

My doctor has diagnosted me for 'Tramatic Stress Syndrome" so he decided to put me on Gabapentin. I've never been on something like this( before it was the usual paxil,prozac,cyrpexia etc you all know the drill). Does this stuff help with the rage, missing time", and mood? Does anyone gain major weight on this stuff? If anyone can tell me how it affected them will you please respond. Thanks you very much...I'm totally nervous about using anything thats supposed to be used for seizures.
