My starting dose of Neurontin was 300 mgs! Within 5 days the dosage was increased to 600 mgs. I felt very fatigued at that juncture, though I was taking it all in one shot right before bed. I messed with it a little, splitting the 600 mgs into 2 doses during the *day*. After another few weeks or so, the dosage was increased to 900 mgs. All-the-while, I'm still splitting up the total dosage amount throughout the day.
I found some info from a reputable medical resource that stated that Neurontin is food, water, and oxygen stable. Meaning, you can open the capsules, drop half (or the whole capsule) into a glass of water, and drink half now and half later (and many other combinations). There is a limit to how much of Neurontin's active metabolites (or whatever they're called) can be utilized at one time. I believe that the limit is 300 mgs at one time, and as the single dosage goes higher, the lower the percentage of drug availability is.
Currently, I'm taking 1,200 mgs. I will be increasing the dosage to 1,500 mgs in four days, and five days after that the dosage will be increased to 1,800 mgs. The entire amount will be spread throughout my waking hours, as this med seems to have a very short half-life in my body. However, I did feel very drowsy, fatigued and sluggish when I first started on the med, but my new p-doc insists on ramping up very very slowly, because it's easy to miss the ideal dosage. I don't know if this helps more than it confuses? If your questions aren't being answered, please let us know!!! Are you doing better now, or still wrapped in cotton?

P.S. I am using Neurontin for mood stabilizing effects, as well as fighting my anxiety and panic attacks.
