Dr Bob and company:
I am new to this site - thanks for being here - started searching info on my son's schizo-affective dx - in terms of reccomended tx, and found a new med we might want to add if his MD would agree to try (mediCal is prickly re oking meds).
But for me (long, long chronic depression)I am worried that the Wellbutrin I have been taking for the last 3mos is causing or augmenting very rapid, irregular heartbeat episodes which keep landing me in the ED( the episodes resolve by themselves, and my bloodwork is always normal) - the rate can get greater than 150+ - these episodes are happening more often - up to once aweek - my medical hx includes diabetes type2, HTN,post menopause, overwt;I am 53 - My sugars run below 120, I have lost 40lbs, my BP is controlled - then Wellbutrin has been the best med for my depression - at 150mgSR with 75mg IR every am I have a new life I have never had before - so I am concerned, as arrythmias are stated as a side effect to be concerned about - the MDs at Kaiser both in psyche and ED state this is a rare side effect - "not to worry" - I now have another med to manage my fast heart rate (digoxin), but episodes still happening - I am concerned I might be the "rare" one - yes I have other problems that might cause this but I have been working hard to manage my chronic dxs and have ben successful.
Anyone ever had similar problems - or Dr Bob,what do you think? Looking forward to feedback soon - my echocardiogram showed only slight L atrial borderline enlargement, everything else was normal. If the Wellbutrin is causing this - what will I substitute for it? Serzone is out - been there, done that.Thanks,K.
