I've been on and off anti-depressants for about the past 12 years. I always knew that I tended to be anxious and depressed a great deal of my life, but I didn't receive the actual diagnosis of major depression until 1989. Since then I've been on Prozac, Effexor, Paxil, Zoloft, Serzone, Wellbutrin and I'm currently on 25mg of Lamictal. Some of these meds I felt better on, but they seemed to quit working after a few months. The psych that I've been seeing for the past couple of years said that most of the doses that I was put on were too low and that I probably never reached therapeutic level. When he's tried to increase me to that level or dose I feel worse. I had been reading about Lamictal as a new treatment for treatment -resistant depressions and my doc thought it was worth a try. I've been on 25mg for the past two weeks and although I still felt very nervous and anxious, I felt some relief from the depressive symptoms after a few days. Since then, however, I've crashed. I feel terrible-anxious and very depressed. My doc is very hard to get in touch with(I definately need to find a new doc) and I'm wondering if increasing the Lamictal like he had planned will help, or should another med be added. Maybe this isn't the right med for me. I would appreciate any input on my situation.
Thanks!
