YEs, I take it as an adjunct to my antidepressants. It is not uncommon to use stimulants to augment antidepressant therapy.
BTW, in the Thyroid and Depression folder at the PBtips page at egroups--link in intro at top of this page--there is an article on stimulants for anergic depression in a case of hypothyroid.
I currently take the sustained release ritalin (generic), which lasts about 4 hours, instead of the 2.5 hours that the regular did. They are both supposed to last longer, but I didn't think so. The sustained is better for me because I don't get the sudden "rebound" loss of energy and irritablity that came between doses of the regular. I had taken 10 mg regular 3 times a day, and now take 2 times 20 mg of the extended.However, I have been discussing with my pdoc trying adderall to see if it works better.
