I was questioning the profile of ludiomil as I am trying to lower my dose of elavil. Thanks for all the replies. It seems the main concern with taking two TCAs together (or at least these two) can run into the risk of seizures or heart problems or at least make the side effects stronger.
So it looks like it would be better to just go with one tricyclic. I am on 70 mg. of elavil at the moment. This is a low dose and so I know that the depression will come back at such a low dose. I was hoping to augment the elavil with another tricyclic as:
- I can't handle the SSRIs,
- I would like to get on something that does not give my cravings like the elavil does (same cravings with doxepin),
- something that helps me sleep and keeps me calm.
This is when my doctor and I decided to give Ludiomil a try. After the replies to my "ludiomil profile, please" it looks like it is best to just stick with one med due to the side effects, etc... of combining these two drugs. So, is slowly going up in ludiomil and lowering the elavil by the same amount (10 mg. for each) the way to go? Over the period of how long? Can I not start out with a low dose of ludiomil, increase then decrease elavil?
