Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

Posted by ash on September 22, 2000, at 11:39:46

Hello all,

Has anyone here recently tried repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) for treatment-resistant depression? By way of background my antidepressant medication history can be found under the thread "Polypharmacy" dated Aug 31,00.

I have read whatever little there is out there on rTMS on the WWW. It is clearly an experimental procedure with somewhat of a moderate success rate but relatively benign in relation to ECT. Since I have failed so many A/D trials, my Stanford psychiatrist threw this out as an option. I would be particularly interested if anyone has had or knows of significant negative outcomes after undergoing the series of treatments.

Thanks.

Ash
