Although lorazepam, (Ativan), is frequently used for severe anxiety, 0.5 mg/day is not much. The half life of it is around 16 hours and the efficacy is half that or less, so I'd think you'd have to take it evenly spaced several times a day to get a proper effect. Otherwise you could see severe ups and downs. Xanax is the classic drug for anxiety. Were you taking enough of it and again evenly spaced over the day. Noting all the different drugs you have/are taken/taking, I wonder if you're seeing a general practioner or a psychiatrist who specializes in anxiety. If not the latter, it may be time to change docs. There is help out there and both you and your husband deserve better.
