Sigolene,
I don't have any experience wih the Desyrel, but did take the Remeron for quite a long time. After the initial acclamation period my experience with it was the higher dose (45mgs) was less sedating than the lower doses (15-30mgs). My pdoc told me this would happen, and while I thought HE was the one in need of therapy, it turned out he was right. I've heard this has been the case with others too. The Rem eventually stopped working for my depression and continued it because it helped with my sleeping (I'm an insomniac). I discontinued it because the weight gain I experienced with it was more than I could tolerate. I hope this helps.
