Medications: co-op buying groups?

I heard something on the news the other night about cooperative groups forming to purchase prescription medications at a discount. It said that the pharmacy industry preferred it to dealing with HMOs, and that it reduced costs for consumers significantly.

So, does anyone know how to get in touch with such a group? I'll have to start posting here about Effexor XR withdrawal soon if I don't figure out a way to reduce my costs!
