I have searched the archives, read countless messages, searched the net and cannot find a definate answer.
I need to know what does Elavil target for neurotransmitters? Is it a strong one that targets norepinephrine? Strong for serotonin? I'd really appreciate any info you have or where I can do some reading that will answer this question for me.
I'm hoping that by finding out what it targets, then maybe I can find one of the newer medications and hopefully, get on one that works for me.
Tryouts but no good, so far, have been:
Zoloft
Effexor
Serzone - all these caused agitation,
Paxil insomnia, aggressiveness - BIG
Wellbutrin TIME!!Desyrel and Imipramine - not great for sleep, increased sweating on imipramine, not great sex on Desyrel
Elavil is the only one that works on my depression, helps me sleep, keeps me calm. BUT, I am tired of the carbohydrate pigging out. I also should probably go higher in my dose as I am feeling a little low lately. I would rather not go up because this just adds more cravings.
So, I am hoping you knowledgeable people can help me in this. It would be very much appreciated.
P.S. I live in Canada if that helps figure out medication, as we don't have some of the newer drugs here yet. Who knows when.
