Tracy: I've been on Effexor XR and Clexea for a year. If anything, I can report the opposite: I have lots of energy and have lost weight. This is due, in part, to the Effexor's dopamine action (but you have to be on a high dose to get it: 225-300 [for me]). It doesn't seem counterintuitive for someone with eating disorders to be put on Effexor since a semi-cousin of Effexor, Wellbutrin, is frequently used for eating d/o. The one thing I can tell you about Effexor is that it simply takes time to work. As do all of these meds. The main trap, I believe, that many people fall into is not giving the meds a chance to work and, additionally, failing to realize (actually: accept) that any medicine is going to have side-effects. Hope this helps. PS: I BELIEVE that Effexor is almost always givin in the morning not evening, but I could be wrong.
> I was put on Effexor xr for binge eating disorder. I have been on Celexa for the last year, and started Wellbutrin SR 6 months ago, but was told to discontinue (2 weeks ago).

Is it because the WB is leaving my system? The effexor is not high enough (has anyone experienced increased energy on Effexor?)? Or what? I still take Celexa, 40mg in the morning, and will be tapering that off soon. I take 75 mg. of Effexor at night --
