CHADD test? }} J.R.

Posted by KarenB on July 27, 2000, at 13:29:29

J.R.,

I know I found the tests before, by following the links from CHADD. This time, however, I cannot find them at all. There was even one I found (somehow) that was written specifically for teenage girls. Looking back to my behavior and attitudes in highschool, I could identify with almost all the questions asked. Just wish I could find them...

The "tests" I took were more like symptom surveys, taking into account the diagnostic criteria for ADD/ADHD.

I found this diagnostic list below - hope it's helpful. Most symptom surveys are geared toward parents seeking answers for their children but I found these symptoms to be fairly on target, as an adult with ADD.

Symptoms of inattention, as listed in the DSM-IV, are:*

often fails to give close attention to details or makes
careless mistakes in schoolwork, work, or other
activities;

often has difficulty sustaining attention in tasks or play
activities;

often does not seem to listen when spoken to directly;

often does not follow through on instructions and fails
to finish schoolwork, chores, or duties in the
workplace (not due to oppositional behavior or failure
to understand instructions);

often has difficulty organizing tasks and activities;

often avoids, dislikes, or is reluctant to engage in tasks
that require sustained mental effort (such as
schoolwork or homework);

often loses things necessary for tasks or activities (e.g.,
toys, school assignments,pencils, books, or tools);

is often easily distracted by extraneous stimuli;

is often forgetful in daily activities.
