Hi everyone. I'm wondering if Prozac can cause panic attacks? I have been taking 20mg Prozac for 5 weeks now, and my moods and emotions have really stabilised.
Last night however, I had what i believe may be a panic attack. My husband and I had a disagreement which went on and on and something he said about our relationship really scared me. I started to cry, but then i was just gasping for air. I couldn't stop breathing like this for about 30 minutes. It felt like i was going crazy. I'd slow down a bit and then as soon as i thought about what he said i'd start again. I focussed on slowing my breathing, and I was finally able to control myself.
Is this a panic attack?
I have always generally been over-emotional, and also irrational at times and I can do some stupid and impulsive things when i am in one of these states. Alcohol can make me worse. I did have 2 glasses of wine last night before this happened, and it was also the first day of my menstrual cycle.
The prozac has evened out my moods/emotions greatly, and for the past month everything has been fantastic, then suddenly this?Something else i've noticed, is that I chew/bite my mouth/lips all the time now (something i used to do on occasions but now it's happening a lot). How can Prozac calm me and even me out, yet at the same time cause anxiety and even a panic attack?
Any thoughts anyone?
Thanks.
